Jeremy Renner on ‘Hawkeye’ film, ‘Captain America 3’ role, happy to be Avenger
Marvel Studios can’t do much wrong with another successful summer of blockbusters (Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and now Avengers star Jeremy Renner is looking ahead to the sequel and answers questions about his future in the Marvel Universe.
The biggest question is whether the Zero Dark Thirty star is looking for a solo film to feature his character, Hawkeye.
“I’m happy to be the ensemble. I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means,” Renner said to MTV.
“I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like ‘Cap 3,” he told MTV in the Sept. 23 interview.
Fans may be counting that as confirmation, but Renner will be on the big screen next summer as the famous archer beside Marvel’s biggest stars.
Renner will next star in Michael Cuesta’s biopic/crime-drama Kill the Messenger, which opens October 10th. Then, after narrating a TV mini-series titled The World Wars before Avengers: Age of Ultron. He is also set to return for Mission Impossible 5 and there’s still hope to see him in a new Bourne film.
Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson will all be returning to reprise their roles from the first film. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen will play Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to release in theaters on May 1, 2015.
