Jennifer Fichter sex case update: Aborted child of 14-year-old student in 2012
More shocking details emerged Wednesday in the case against a Florida teacher arrested for having sex with her 17-year-old student, getting pregnant and aborting the child. Reportedly, the woman had sex with a 14-year-old student back in 2012 and resigned from that teaching post.
Jennifer Fichter, 29, reportedly falsified her teaching application, hiding the transgression in her past. The new charges were presented Wednesday against the Central Florida Aerospace Academy teacher who reportedly had sex with a student multiple times.
10 News released a video interview detailing the woman’s resignation from her “language arts teaching job at Robinswood Middle School in Orlando in 2008 after records show she was accused of inappropriately communicating with a student there. Questions remain over how she landed a teaching job at Lakeland’s Kathleen High School in the fall of 2011.”
10 News took that question directly to the woman in charge of Polk County Schools, superintendent Kathryn LeRoy, who said Fichter lied in several places on her application for employment. The Polk County School District provided 10 News a copy of Fichter’s application in which she checked “no” to ever being the subject of an investigation, as well as other questions about her past that would have raised red flags.
“We will set bond at $10,000 each count,” the judge said.
While bond was set at $70,000, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirms that Fichter was under investigation in 2012 after a mom contacted the sheriff’s office after she said she found inappropriate Facebook messages between the teacher and her son.
