Jarvis Shields identified as missing Syracuse man found dead
Police have identified the body found behind a vacant home on Syracuse’s South Side as a 21-year-old man reported missing nearly two weeks ago.
Jarvis Shields, 21, was found dead around 1 p.m. Wednesday, police Lt. Eric Carr said. His body was found in a wooded area behind the vacant home. Shields’ family members reported him missing on June 14, police confirmed.
Shields’ cause of death has not yet been determined. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy.
Carr stated that the discovery of Shields’ body does not appear to be connected to human bones found near Syracuse-Solvay on Monday or a human skull found behind the Wegmans at the Western Lights Shopping Center on June 18.
