Jared James Abrahams arrested in Miss Teen USA, Cassidy Wolf’s ‘sextortion’ case
Jared James Abrahams, resident of Temecula was arrested on Thursday morning. He was accused of “sextorting” several women, including Miss Teen USA, Cassidy Wolf. Abraham, 19, a computer science college student, had allegedly used software to hack into her system and take pictures of Wolf’s private moments in her room by using her webcam.
Cassidy Wolf first made headlines earlier in September when she approached the FBI about receiving anonymous emails and nude photographs. She said that her computer was hacked, passwords were changed and her Twitter profile picture was changed with a half-naked picture.
She further received threats to “1) sent nude photographs, 2) sent a nude video, or 3) logged onto Skype and did what Abrahams told [her] to do for five minutes,” FBI Special Agent Julie Patton wrote in the criminal complaint. “Abrahams threatened to ‘transform (Wolf’s) dream of being a model into a pornstar’ if (she) did not comply to his demands,” the complaint stated.
It was reported that Abrahams had sent similar threats to several women in the country and outside. However, he knew Cassidy Wolf on a personal level – both from the city of Temecula.
Abrahams had admitted he controlled 30 to 40 “slave computers,” devices that someone else had a control over. (The PDF of the complaint can be read here.)
Abrahams was freed on $50,000 bail, but has to face confinement at home. He also has to wear a GPS monitor and can only use the computer for schoolwork. A monitoring software will be installed.
