Jamie Chung proud of Mulan, ‘Once Upon a Time’ role, as she’s set to star in ‘Believe’

Fans were buzzing when Jamie Chung’s Mulan on Once Upon a Time didn’t turn for Prince Philip (Julian Morris) but rather, had a crush on Princess Aurora, played by Sarah Bolger.

It was “an on-going inside joke” between her and Bolger that secretly Mulan was in love with Aurora. She adds, “I really do think that’s what [the writers] planned from the beginning,” Chung told the press at the TCA winter tour.

“For the audience as well, there was like this conspiracy online, like, ‘Mulan loves Aurora!'” Chung continued. “I’m really glad that the writers listened, because I really do think that that’s what they planned from the beginning. They’re all about twists and you know, why not? It felt so natural to begin with.”

Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis tell Zap2it that they are incredibly happy for Chung landing a regular role on NBC’s new drama Believe, they would love to get her back for a Mulan update if they can and Chung says she’s game.

“I would go back [to ‘Once Upon a Time’] in a heartbeat,” Chung tells reporters. “I am committed to [‘Believe’], but I don’t think that door is shut,” also saying that she would be excited for a love story for Mulan — “something to sink [her] teeth into.”

Chung adds that never revisiting Mulan “would be really disappointing, leaving the audience with this giant question mark.”

Mulan was last seen with Robin Hood’s Merry Men.
