James Remar to go from ‘Dexter’ season 8 to join ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, starts in September

 James Remar has landed a major role on Grey’s Anatomy.

The Dexter actor will appear in multiple episodes of the medical drama’s 10th run, according to TVLine.

Episode 802Remar’s character will debut early on in the new season, though further details about his role are yet to be confirmed.

The 59-year-old actor is best known for playing Dexter’s late father Harry on Showtime’s Dexter, which draws to a close after eight seasons on September 22.

His additional credits include stints on The Vampire Diaries and Sex and the City and roles in the films 48 Hrs (1982) and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997).

The tenth season of Grey’s Anatomy will write out long-standing fan favorite Dr Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). Oh recently admitted that she does not want her character to be killed off when she departs the show.

Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC in the US with a double-bill on Thursday, September 26.

Season 10 will air until December with 12 episodes and then return on February 27, 2014 for twelve more.
