Jack Black confirmed for ‘Goosebumps 2’ set for 2018: ‘Goosebumps Horrorland’
Goosebumps was a surprise hit both critically and commercially, so it’s no surprise that a sequel has been planned and now fans learn that Jack Black will indeed return for the film, reprising his role as writer and Goosebumps creator R.L. Stine.
Director Rob Letterman is also set to return and the film will arrive in the fall of 2018. That said, fans can expect a ton more news as production would need to get started to allow for the presumed CGI to be added.
CBM notes “…two main plot premises that we could see in this sequel:”
- Horrorland is a new Goosebumps manuscript that gets written, turning the town into a veritable land of horrors. (Kind of the like the first film.)
- Horrorland is a manuscript or place that human characters get transported into, offering viewers a whole new world of Goosebumps horrors (literally).
The latter seems more likely than the first, since that would just be the same film all over….oh wait, this is Sony, so…
Sony released the news with a promotional image and the official title: Goosebumps: Horrorland.
Horrorland is most certainly a reference to the 16th ever Goosebumps book titled ‘One Day at HorrorLand’ (1994) set in a theme park filled with all kinds of monsters.
Black will also voice Slappy the Dummy and the cast will likely be back: Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan and Dylan Minnette.
Goosebumps: Horrorland is set to arrive in theaters on September 21, 2018
