Isaiah Silva Requests $25,000 in Spousal Support from Frances Bean Cobain

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, married Isaiah Silva in June 2014 in a secret marriage. Cobain and Silva announced their split in March. TMZ is reporting that Silva has requested $25,000 per month in spousal support. Cobain is the sole heir of her father’s estate, which is estimated at $100 million.

The Nirvana front man’s brand was valued at having a $450 million value in 2014.

Courtney Love sold a portion of his estate for $50+ million to Larry Mestel in 2006. Love was the sole beneficiary of the state at the time. The stake that was purchased is unknown, but Mestel is stated as owning 50% of the publishing rights before selling them in a $150 million deal.

Frances Bean Cobain’s trust purchased the rights to her father’s estate in 2010 for a $2.75 million loan. Frances Bean was 18 at the time and maintained over 33% of her father’s estate at the time.

The figures put Frances Bean’s net worth at $100 million – $150 million. Silva alleges that he quit his job when the two were married under the agreement that Cobain would pay his monthly expenses.

Silva asserts that there was no prenup in place when the couple were married.

“It’s no surprise that there wasn’t a prenup in place. The marriage was kept a secret, and Cobain didn’t tell her mother that she was married until after the nuptials,” states Ousky Law Office.

The secret marriage occurred with just close friends, according to initial reports. The couple kept their private life out of the public eye, with little known about their marriage until the announcement that the couple filed for divorce.

Documents provided to E! News outline the expenses Silva claims. He claims that his rent is $4,500 per month, he spends $200 on clothing per month, and is asking for $3,333 per month for the cost of private schooling for his child he had in a previous relationship.

Silva states that there were incidents of violence and harassment against him that greatly changed his financial situation.

Silva is a musician in The Eeries. The band’s income has been affected by the divorce, according to the report. He states in the documents obtained by E! News that he has not been able to tour or record new music since the divorce filing. He claims that since there was no prenuptial agreement in place, he is entitled to half of the income earned by Cobain and her father’s estate during the time of their marriage.

Earlier documents from Cobain requested that her ex-husband not receive any gains from her father’s estate. The couple didn’t have any children. Cobain has stated that she is open to spousal support.

An argument between the couple flared in July when Silva stated he was given an acoustic guitar from Nirvana MTV Unplugged as a wedding gift. The famous guitar has become the center of the couple’s asset dispute. Cobain is adamant on keeping her father’s estate and any corresponding assets out of the divorce proceeding. She denies giving Silva the famous guitar.
