IRS after Manny Pacquiao for $18 million: Report
Celebrity news website, TMZ Sports reported Dec.10 that Filipino boxing star, Manny Pacquiao is $18 million in hock with the US Internal Revenue Service.
The website says they obtained official documents which show the IRS claims Manny stiffed the government out of federal income taxes from 2006 to 2010 … totaling $18,313,668.79 in debt.
The documents in question are not posted or linked to by TMZ.
The Pacquiao camp is flatly denying the report. Pacquiao attorney, Tranquil Salvador texted the following to Philippine news source, Sun.Star in response:
“We deny. We have no knowledge of the so called IRS (Internal Revenue Service) tax deficiency case. There is no such case.”
Pacquiao is in the midst of a court battle in the Philippines with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, which has accused Pacquiao of not submitting sufficient US tax documents that would prove that he paid income taxes in the US, GMA News reports.
US income taxes would be deducted from taxes Pacquiao owes in the Philippines under the terms of a tax treaty between the two countries.
