‘Iron Man 3’ actor Ty Simpkins joins the cast of ‘Jurassic World’
The 12-year-old actor recently worked on Iron Man 3 and now has a lead role in the dinosaur film, according to Deadline.
Ty Simpkins will be joining producer Steven Spielberg, who he worked with on 2005’s War of the Worlds, also starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.
Bryce Dallas Howard was also recently reported to have been cast.
Simpkins had a lead role in hit horror film Insidious, and playing Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s son in Revolutionary Road. Most recently played Harley in Iron Man 3 as well as a role in Pride and Glory.
Spielberg is producing the Jurassic Park sequel with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World is to be shot in 3D, and Universal has scheduled a release of June 12, 2015 in the US.
The first three films in the “Jurassic” series have taken in $1.9 billion at the box office and this year’s 3D re-release of the original film, Jurassic Park, has brought in $114 million globally.
Two sequels followed, The Lost World in 1997 and Jurassic Park 3 in 2001.
