‘Invincible Iron Man’ turns 500! Marvel released a promo trailer

January will the 500th issue of “The Invincible Iron Man” and Marvel is pulling out all of the stops to ensure we race to a local comic vendor and grab a copy. The success of the two “Iron Man” films has increased readership and Marvel wants to expand on the success from other milestone issues (Incredible Hulk and Amazing Spider-Man also had recent 500th issues).

The over-sized comic is expected to provide plenty of bonus material in the story arc described as “a turning point in Tony Stark’s career” – which could mean anything.

At the New York Comic Convention, Iron Man writer, Matt Fratch, said:

“Well, it’s not so much a big storyline so much as…. uh, phase 2 of my time on the title. In the present day, Tony Stark has found Stark Industries plans for a kind of device he has no recollection of, due to his profound memory loss. So he tries to put together what it was and why he was making it with the help of the name of the former Stark employee he was designing it with– a guy named Peter Parker.”

“Around that, we flash forward about forty years or so, to a world where we didn’t renumber the book and see what life is like for Stark in Iron Man #500. So he’s seventy-some years old and has a son about his age now and a granddaughter about his age when he was a hard-partying college kid. Oh, and the world has completely gone to hell and is seemingly ruled by the Mandarin.” – quoted by IGN, October article”

To further infiltrate the internet and find more fans, more created a trailer (yes, a trailer) to promote the comic.

Good or bad, Marvel is surely trying to expand their market share and find success.

My first effort at “blogging” before it was called “blogging” was a Pop Culture, Comic Book column at CrazedFanboy.com.

A lot sure has changed since these days.

Due to the support/pressure from my DOB comrades, Splash Page was resurrected to publish Pop Culture topics and the “State of the Nation” will continue to deal with politics and heavy issues.

Beginning in December of 2010, I began writing on Examiner.com, check out my articles there: http://www.examiner.com/comic-books-in-tampa-bay/brandon-jones
