‘Into the Woods Jr’ showcases talented ‘tweens’ live adaptation
The Straz Center for the Performing Arts’ Patel Conservatory will present Into The Woods, Jr., performed by those in grades five through 12, in the TECO Theater April 15-24.
Into the Woods, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, intertwines the plots of several fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault with hilarious results. The musical centers on the wishes of several characters, such as a baker and his wife, Cinderella, and Jack, of Jack and the Beanstalk fame.
The musical debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986 and premiered on Broadway in 1987. The show won several Tony ® Awards, including Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical.
