Insurgent Movie Review: ‘exciting’ but overrated
The Divergent saga is continued in the exciting sequel “Insurgent”. Starring Shailene Woodley as Tris and Theo James as Four, this action-packed movie will keep both fans of the books and skeptics entertained. With the leader of the Euridite faction, Jeanine, gaining power, the ex-Dauntless couple confront their past to stop her. With the Divergents being hunted and experimented on, Tris struggles with hiding or following her personal convictions.
While the film is ull of plenty of action, romance and emotional scenes, this movie is not intended for little kids, but is a great choice for other audiences.
This film definitely did the Veronica Roth’s book justice, creating a captivating and appealing visual. Even better than the first film, this movie also created an interesting lead in to the final two “Allegient” movies.
Insurgent receives a 3 out of 5 stars.
From Brandon Jones:
Outisde of the target audience, this film is more entertaining than the first, but an overrated franchise. Woodley is unimpressive as a lead actress with Theo James and Jai Courtney the best performances on screne.
There is one predictable plot point after another and ends with a climax that leaves us wondering where the story is going, rather than eager for the ride to continue.
I would give Insurgent 2 1/2 stars
