‘Independence Day Resurgence’ Super Bowl ad highlights chaos, destruction

The Independence Day: Resurgence Super Bowl ad set up a ton of fan buzz as the alien return and the chaos begins.

There is a ton of new footage, the first good look at Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher, taking over the lead presence with Jeff Goldblum returning as David Levinson. The destruction on display is unparalleled, so the big summer blockbuster should deliver for fans seeking the plotless entertainment.

President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) is rumored to have a connection to the aliens after learning the plans of their species through a psychic connection in the first film. The beard shows us that he is out of politics with a new president making the difficult calls.

This is where Liam Hemsworth‘s character is working, and it looks like he has a romance with Whitmore’s daughter, played by It Follows star Maika Monroe.

Usher plays Captain Steven Hiller’s son, taking the aerial fight to space this time, with Will Smith absent as Hiller died in between the two films, a detail which will be developed in the story.

Check out the teaser below.

Resurgence will also have Brent Spiner, Judd Hirsch and Vivica Fox returning to reprise their roles from the first film with Joey King, William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Ryan Cartwright and Sela Ward all have joined the cast.

Independence Day Resurgence arrives in theaters on June 24, 2016.
