Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston have a scene in ‘Avengers Age of Ultron’

More Avengers: Age of Ultron news landed in an unlikely place, an interview with Thor star Idris Elba. Elba was speaking with Telegraph and confirmed he has a scene in the upcoming blockbuster with Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth.

Heimdall (Idris Elba) in THOR“I’m in ‘Avengers.’ And I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston and they’re like, ‘Aren’t you [supposed to be] in Ibiza?’,” the Wire star says referring to living in Ibiza over the summer and working as a DJ.

Obviously this is news to Marvel fans who have had no hint that the Thor: Dark World star would be appearing as Heimdall or that Hiddleston would be playing Loki before returning for the third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok in 2017. Both actors co-starred with Hemsworth in the first two Thor films.

The new Avengers film finds Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) teaming up to battle the devious robot known as Ultron (James Spader).

Avengers: Age of Ultron also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Andy Serkis, and Samuel L. Jackson.

This film is a gateway to completely change the Avengers lineup in a similar fashion as in the comic books. This was confirmed by Marvel exec Kevin Feige who stated that “It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event.  Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was…”

Additionally, the tension between Chris Evans’ Captain America and Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. will come to a heated climax and be a precursor to 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters May 1, 2015.
