‘Hunger Games Catching Fire’ trailer and new photos, Jennifer Lawrence kiss Liam Hemsworth
The first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was unveiled at the MTV Movie Awards last night.
Using footage solely from the first half of Suzanne Collins’s novel, the teaser offered glimpses of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) embarking on their Victory Tour and discovering a rebellion brewing in several districts.
Readers of the books will know that things are only going to get darker from here, and the trailer is bookended by a chilling chat between Donald Sutherland’s President Snow and Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Plutarch Heavensbee, who hold Katniss responsible for the uprising.
“She has become a beacon of hope for them,” Snow tells Heavensbee, as they watch a projection of Katniss and Peeta beginning their tour of the twelve districts. “She must be eliminated.”
Very powerful is Katniss watching in horror as an elderly citizen is executed for saluting her, while Heavensbee’s voiceover reveals the Capitol’s larger plan: to turn the citizens against Katniss and thus destroy their symbol of hope.
There’s a lot crammed into these 150 seconds – WATCH below.
