Hugh Jackman confirms ‘The Wolverine’ shoot will begin in August
Comic book fans have longed for Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine and it seems that the production will start later this year. Jackman made a brief cameo in last summer’s “X-Men: First Class,” but a solo film has hit snag after snag delaying the project.
This weekend; however, the “X-Men” star tweeted that the shoot will begin in August.
“Starts shooting in August!!!”
Director James Mangold will helm the sequel to “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” which was considered a failure by most fans. Last summer at the San Diego Comic Con, Jackman praised the Chris McQuarrie script and confirmed that the rumored villain for “The Wolverine,” will indeed be the Silver Samurai.
According the comic mythos, a criminal organization, the Hand, is left without a Master. Shingen befriends Logan to lure him into leading the Hand, which angers the illegitimate brother of Shingen, Kenuichio. Kenuichio is the Silver Samurai and battles Wolverine with an electrified armor. (Source)
The film is set in Japan, but last month it was reported that the stage work would be filmed in Jackman’s home country of Australia.
Besides Jackman, no cast has been announced. “The Wolverine” comes to theaters July 26, 2013.
