Must Have Moving Tips

  • Planning. Make an inventory of your belongings in each room. Thus, you will see what you actually have and how much space your belongings take. This will help the moving company to estimate the cost of your staff too.
  • Cleaning. Do a spring cleaning, even if it is a summer season. Look through your clothes, towels, cookware and decide which of these you are going to take with you and which you are not using anymore. Give something to charity or organize a garage sale.
  • Packing. Decide whether you want to pack by yourself or you want to ask a professional company to do this for you. Professional packing materials are the best choice to pack everything safely. And don’t forget about labels. Provide each box with the label with the room of your house, it was taken from.
  • Packing supplies. Make sure that you have all tools needed for a good packing. Decide how many boxes you need and buy a little bit more. One extra box is always a good idea.
  • Start packing in advance. Don’t leave a packing process to the last minute. Start packing step by step. For example, you can start with a garage, living room, and bathroom.

  • Checklist. A detailed checklist with the number of documents and small items you should not forget to take will help you to unpack fast in a house.
  • Apply to a moving company. Start searching for a moving company in advance. Google the names of the companies in your area. Go to forums and ask for recommendations. Asks your friends whether they know some reliable movers or not. Pick several companies, compare them, and choose the best one. Contact the company and ask for a meeting to discuss everything in details.
  • Get your appliances ready. Unplug and prepare your refrigerator, washer, and dryer.
  • Essential items. Prepare a separate box with essential items, which will be loaded last on the truck. Thus, this will be the first box to unpack in your new house or apartment. Put towels, toothbrushes, soap, bottled water, clothes, etc.
  • Complete a high-value inventory form. Write down all items that are worth more than 100-150$ per pound.

And the last but not the least – relax. Make your moving day a stress-free and enjoyable experience.
