Houston murder suicide: Lamar High School students identified as Pierce Schwartz and Samuel Yeargain

The first of the two Houston teen boys found dead in a murder suicide has been identified as Pierce Schwartz.

UPDATE: The second teenage has been identified as Samuel Yeargain, also age 15.

CORONER CONFIRMS THAT Samuel Yeargain was the shooter, Pierce Schwartz was the victim – more HERE.

Schwartz, 15, was identified through the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Assistant Chief H.J. Gaw said during a news conference Thursday night that the mother one of the boys found them when she came home, an apartment at The Park at River Oaks along Buffalo Speedway, near West Alabama Street, around 5 p.m., but it’s unclear whether Schwartz was her son. It’s also unclear which boy shot the other then himself.

Police had confirmed the two teens were close friends, even “best friends.”

The gun recovered from the scene belonged to the family living at the apartment, Gaw said. He added that the mother who made the emergency call indicated her son was going through “chronic mental issues.”

On Thursday night, the Houston Independent School District released a statement extending its deepest condolences to both students’ family and friends.

The district is making grief counselors available at Lamar to help school administrators and students.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to each student’s family and friends, as well as the school community. The district is making grief counselors available at Lamar to assist school administrators and students.”

A source spoke with the Global Dispatch stating that they were “close to Pierce” offering details on the teens’ lifestyle, mental illness and struggles in their family. Another person has contacted the Dispatch to correct the information, but little has been confirmed by police – more HERE.

Your facts are incorrect in your report and your source is grossly in error. Your negligence in not performing a fact check is hurtful to those affected by this tragedy.
