‘Homeland’ season 3 may offer ‘state sponsored’ terrrorist attack says Showtime exec
Homeland exec Alex Gansa has revealed new plot points from the show’s upcoming third season.
Gansa told ABC’s This Week that the Showtime thriller’s next season will explore the impact of a state-sponsored terror attack.

Damien Lewis as Nicholas “Nick” Brody and Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison in Homeland
“The issue in this season is: what happens if it were learned that a major attack on the United States was sponsored by a state?” he said. “These are the big concerns that we’re going to deal with in the first sweep of episodes.
“Then there’s the big question about where Brody [Damian Lewis] is. Does anybody know that Carrie [Claire Danes] helped him get out of the country and will they ever see each other again? And there are a couple more surprises.”
Showtime previously revealed that future episodes of Homeland will see Lewis’s conflicted marine labelled the “world’s most wanted terrorist” following the events of season two’s finale.
A number of guest castings for the new season were recently announced, with Boardwalk Empire‘s David Aaron Baker, Law and Order: SVU‘s Joanna Merlin, Prison Break‘s Tracy Letts and Up in the Air actress Amy Morton all landing roles on the drama.
Homeland will return to Showtime on September 29.
