‘Hobbit’ star Martin Freeman hopes ‘Sherlock’ season 4 will happen
Martin Freeman, the actor, who plays John Watson to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, is currently filming the third series in the popular BBC show. Now speaking to Empire magazine, Freeman says he’s hopeful for a fourth season as well in a May 3 article.
“I believe in doing things for as long as people love them, and all I can say is that I really love the show.”
While he can’t speak for his Star Trek Into Darkness co-star, Freeman is ready for more.
“I feel very loyal to it and I like doing it . . . for as long as they want to do it and as long as we all want to do it.”
He said he is very loyal to the show explaining that he originally turned down the role of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit because filming clashed with Sherlock.
“I’ve got some great reactions to things I’m very proud of, but I don’t think any surpass Sherlock in terms of critical acclaim and number of people watching – and just a general feeling that you’re in a mini-Beatlemania.”
Cumberbatch and Freeman do also co-star in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which arrives in theaters December 13, 2013.
