‘Hitman: Agent 47’ delayed to August 2015, ‘Independence Day 2’ moved up
Fox has moved next year’s assassin thriller Hitman: Agent 47 from February 27 to August 28, a six-month delay.
The Rupert Friend, Zachary Quinto video game adaptation now will open against the Weinstein Co’s Ethan Hawke-Emma Watson thriller Regression. Quinto is set to play the villain in the film, co-starring with Hannah Ware.
Additionally, Independence Day 2 was moved up a week to June 24 from July 1, 2016. This will now open against Universal’s The Mummy. This is a very congested area on the schedule with Warner Bros opening with Tarzan on July 1 against Steven Spielberg’s The BFG.
Not much is known about ID2 other than Will Smith is not returning, Jeff Goldblum will be and Fox is hopeful for a third film as well.
“Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, the producer, and they’ve been cooking up and say they have a part for me in what they hope will be a plan to make another one pretty soon.”
Goldblum added, “They’re still talking about it and I’ve heard recent rumblings here and there about it, and ‘Oh, there’s a scripting coming in’—maybe last weekend there was a script handed in, so it’s brewing.”
True Blood superstar Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie co-star in the Tarzan reboot.
