Hispanic man attacked and beaten by five or more Baltimore protesters shouting ‘This is for Trayvon’

A group of black youths chased and attacked a Hispanic man in the streets of Baltimore in a suspected revenge beating for the not-guilty verdict rendered by jurors to George Zimmerman.

The attack, reported to police by an eyewitness who then took to Facebook to describe the incident, is under investigation, Baltimore authorities said. Police have not yet determined or ruled whether the attack was directly tied to Zimmerman’s acquittal, as the witness reported.

no racism symbol slash logoReal estate agent Christina Dudley detailed what she witnessed saying several black male and two black female youths chased a Hispanic man down the street. She said that “one of the boys had a handgun and it was pointed at the back of him.” The suspects captured the Hispanic man and began to beat him with what seemed to be the gun, and also stomped and kicked him.

She then said, The Blaze reported, that “they were just yelling and calling him names as they ran after him, but once they were hitting him … after that, they started yelling, ‘This is for Trayvon, [expletive].” Dudley also said she heard that phrase several times, The Blaze reported.

Dudley said she and a woman who was walking her dog told the group to stop beating the man and warned them they were calling 911. The group took off on foot before police arrived. No one has been arrested or named suspects in the case.

The victim described all of the males as between 16 and 18 and told police a 6-foot suspect with a black “stretchy” shirt and mohawk told him, “What’s up, [expletive].” When the victim raised his phone to call 911, the suspect raised his shirt and flashed a silver handgun in his waistband.

He turned and ran before he was caught and was beaten, police said. He sustained abrasions to his elbows and forearms but refused medical attention.

Police listed all of the suspects involved as black males. Three were “skinny” while one was described as overweight.
