‘Hamilton’ star Daveed Diggs set to voice Sebastian in Disney’s live-action ‘Little Mermaid’ remake
According to Deadline, Hamilton and Blindspotting star Daveed Diggs is in talks to join Disney’s The Little Mermaid live-action reboot in the role of Sebastian the crab.
Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel with Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder.
Javier Bardem will play Ariel’s father, King Triton, with Cameron Cuffe and Jonah Hauer-King rumored to have tested to play the role of Prince Eric, which at one point was being eyed by Harry Styles.
Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall will helm the film which features a script by David Magee (Life of Pi, Mary Poppins Returns).
Marshall was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for his feature film debut, Chicago. Since then, he’s directed his last three films at Disney, including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Into the Woods, and the Poppins sequel.
Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken will team up to create a blend of old and new songs that will be featured in the upcoming big screen version.
