Gwyneth Paltrow says ‘Iron Man 3’ made her a supermom, calls Robert Downey Jr a ‘wimp’

While promoting the blockbuster Iron Man 3, Gwyneth Paltrow talked about the film, how confused she was trying to follow the script and then digging on co-star Robert Downey Jr.

Metro reports Paltrow  explaining that she “never would have thought of myself being in a comic book superhero movie and now I am so happy that it’s been my main job for the last six years.”

Iron Man 3 IMAX poster“‘I didn’t grow up reading comics at all,” the 40-year-old actress said at the Dorchester’s Ball Room premiere in London.

“But it has been a great journey playing Pepper. In every movie I think she gets to have a real evolution and Iron Man 3 is definitely her most interesting so far.”

Of course, the Shakespeare in Love star said it was hard to follow at times.

“I was really surprised because on set normally I find it really difficult to follow on paper who is getting shot with what and who is bad, who is good,” she admitted. “It gets confusing, but the movie plays so well and it was so much fun to watch and I was really amazed by the job that [Director] Shane [Black] did and I thought it was really good – and so did my family.”

In the trailers it was revealed the actress gets to don a suit at some point in the film and attacks her co-star’s reaction compared to her own.

“I thought it was going to be terrible because in the first two movies Robert would put on the suit and start sweating,” said Paltrow on the Graham Norton Show. “He’d have a nervous breakdown and would meditate and cry. He was in hell.

“So, I was like, ‘Wow, I’d better start mentally preparing myself for the suit.’ And I put it on and was, like, ‘This guy is a wimp, it’s really not that bad.’”
