‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’: James Gunn says story done, filming in February at Atlanta studio
Writer/director James Gunn took to Periscope to answer questions about the highly sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, revealing that it will start filming in February 2016 in Atlanta, GA at Pinewood Studios.
“I turned in my treatment. I’m going in to meet about it Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week,” Gunn said, noting that the script is “very, very far along.” 70 pages along in fact.
Pinewood Studios in Atlanta is where Ant-Man shot and Captain America: Civil War will soon shoot. Gunn talked about the start of the shoot with Periscope, as reported by Superhero Hype.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will have the cast back: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker and Slash Film notes that Guardians 2 “will also likely reveal the identity of Peter Quill’s father and feature more Thanos, played by Josh Brolin. However, though Thanos will almost certainly play a role in the film, Gunn does not think Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is simply a prequel to Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, which will be released a year after.
Slash also summarized: “Gunn said his Guardians of the Galaxy 2 pitch meeting was the “best experience he ever had with a pitch.” He also said they might have to make Karen GillanNebula again without shaving her head, Ronan is dead, the film will be in 3D again, there’s no performance capture for Rocket or Groot, and we’ll learn about the characters in a “deeper way” in the sequel.”
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will arrive in theaters on May 5, 2017.
