Gretchen Carlson tweets about her Lyme disease
Fox & Friends host, Gretchen Carlson has self-disclosed why she hasn’t been at work recently.
According to a tweet by Carlson last week, the seven year veteran of the daily morning show she was out battling a case of Lyme disease.
“good morning everyone! good to be back. have had Lyme disease for the last 2 weeks. ugh. gc”
Carlson lives with her family in Greenwich, Connecticut, the same state where Lyme disease got it’s name in 1975.
Ms. Carlson’s infection comes at the same time the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released it’s preliminary estimates of the disease at 300,000 people annually.
The new estimate suggests that the total number of people diagnosed with Lyme disease is roughly 10 times higher than the yearly reported number.
Gretchen Carlson joins other prominent famous people who have battled Lyme to include author Amy Tan, former President George W. Bush and singer Daryl Hall.
One Twitter follower did however question Carlson’s very short unusual battle with the disease asking, “How do you have Lyme disease for only 2 wks?”
