‘Goosebumps 2’ begins filming, will be titled ‘Slappy Halloween’

Goosebumps creator R.L. Stine has shared some production news on the sequel to Sony’s movie adaptation, officially titled Slappy Halloween.

Stine posted on social media today that the Sony Pictures’ movie adaptation has begun filming.

In addition to filming news, Stine revealed the official title fo the sequel. While it was initially rumored to be called Goosebumps: Slappy’s Revenge, Stine confirmed that the film will instead be known as Slappy Halloween.

The original Goosebumps 2015 film starred Jack Black as a fictional version of Stine, as well as the voice of Slappy, the evil puppet. The new sequel is rumored to follow the story of the book Slappy’s Revenge, with Black rumored to return.

After a series of date changes, Goosebumps: Slappy Halloween is set to release on October 12, just ahead for Halloween.

Oscar winning director Ari Sandel, who won for Best Short Film in 2007 with West Bank Story, will helm the project. Neal H. Moritz is producing through his Original Film banner with Deborah Forte of Scholastic Entertainment.

Despite the references to only Goosebumps 2, the title of the film was said to be Goosebumps: Horrorland with Jack Black returning as Stine. In June, 2017, the real R.L. Stine teased Slappy (voiced by Black) would appear in Horrorland in a tweet on Twitter. Now the titled and rumors are linked to Slappy Halloween.

IMDB still has the older title, listing Bridesmaids star Wendi McLendon-Covey as the lead with Black, Madison Iseman (Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle), Chris Parnell, Ken Jeong, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Ben O’Brien, Caleel Harris and Tyler Silva.
