‘Glass’ is a wrap, M Night Shyamalan thanks Philly, filming in comic shop confirmed

After a little over two months of filming, director M. Night Shyamalan has announced that his upcoming Unbreakable/Split sequel Glass has wrapped filming.

Shyamalan revealed via Twitter last night that he has completed principal photography on his highly-anticipated sequel, Glass.

“Just wrapped !! Much love to my cast & crew. Thank you for helping me tell this special story. And love to Philly for all the support!” – @MNightShyamalan

UPDATE: Filming in comic book store confirmed

Owner Bill Fink told the Star News Philadelphia:

“I guess they wanted to come back to some things from ‘Unbreakable’ and pay homage or add a blast from the past to combine the two movies.”

They also had to make some amends to the store, which had taken advantage of its previous location fame.

“We had a big ‘Unbreakable’ banner and we had to take that down obviously… The big, plastic inflatable Spider-Man that you see in ‘Unbreakable,’ we actually took him down and cleaned him up. He’d been up there for about 20 years or so, so we had to remove all the dust from him. And, we had to remove our cardboard stand-up of Nick Fury. That would be weird to have a picture of Samuel L. Jackson as another character in the movie.”

“I’ve had that for 17 years and somehow it got left behind here. After 17 years, I finally got [M. Night] to sign it about a month and a half ago when they were here doing the final scouting for the location.”

Not much is known about the film’s plot, but will focus on David Dunn (Bruce Willis) facing off once again with his old archnemeis Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) and The Horde (James McAvoy).

It’s still a little unclear how Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) will ultimately factor in, especially after she was spared by The Beast after their first encounter.

The film, which serves as a sequel to both 2000’s Unbreakable and this year’s runaway hit Split, will bring back an all-star cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers: Infinity War), Bruce Willis (Death Wish), James McAvoy (X-Men: Dark Phoenix), and Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants).

Sarah Paulson (The Post) will also feature in a key role while Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard will reprise their roles from Unbreakable.

Glass hits theaters January 18, 2019
