‘Ghostbusters 3’ adds ‘Stranger Things’ star Finn Wolfhard and ‘Infinity War’ actress Carrie Coon
Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon are in talks to star in Sony’s new installment in the Ghostbusters franchise, sources tell Variety.
Directed by Jason Reitman, son of the original creator, Ivan Reitman, from a script by Gil Kenan, Ghostbusters 3 will start production this summer for a release in 2020.
Wolfhard is a fan favorite with his role in Stranger Things and It. Coon earned acclaim for role on Widows and The Sinner as well as her motion cap scenes in Avengers: Infinity War.
Reitman’s new film will connect more directly to the first two films, ignoring the new film, rumored to be centered around a single mom and her family, with Coon playing the mom and Wolfhard playing her son.
The film has been a huge priority for the studio, as it has been secretly developing it for some time using the code word “Rust City.” When Reitman was announced as director in January, a teaser trailer and release date.
Reports have hinted that the surviving cast will be part of the new film with Ernie Hudson saying “Everyone is in.”
