Georgia teen, Ayvani Hope Perez, found in good health, suspects in custody
Georgia teen, Ayvani Hope Perez, who was kidnapped from her home by two gunmen on Tuesday has been found, officials said. The incident happened in Ellenwood, a suburb of Atlanta, during a home invasion.
The 14-year-old teen was found in Conyers, Ga., about 25 miles from Ayvani’s Ellenwood home. She was reported to be in good health and with her family.
The two suspects, Juan Alberto Contreras-Rodriguez, 40, and Wildrego Jackson, 29, are in federal custody, Clayton County police chief Gregory Porter said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened when two gunmen entered Perez’s home from the back door. They demanded for money and jewelry and when the mother denied, the two convicts shot their dog and fled with Ayvani in a gray Dodge. A nationwide Amber Alert was issued after she was taken at about 2 a.m.
“This is a good day. This is a good day for the Perez family, but more important for Ayvani,” Porter said in a news conference Wednesday. She is currently being evaluated at a hospital.
