Full look at Brenton Thwaites’ Robin in dark, gritty poster, image

DC Universe finally announced extensive details about its forthcoming streaming service and gave fans a look at their original series: Titans, which follows young heroes from the DC Universe as they come of age.

Really exciting for fans is the great look at Brenton Thwaites’ Robin – check them out at the bottom.

The series was developed by Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, and Akiva Goldsman and is essentially a gritty take on the Teen Titans franchise, with characters including Dick Grayson/Robin, Rachel Roth/Raven, and Garfield Logan/Beast Boy. Anna Diop has been cast as Starfire and faced a ton of backlash when the first set photos dropped.

The series will also feature Jason Todd and introduce the Doom Patrol, which is getting its own spin-off series on the DC Universe streaming service launching in 2019.

These new images certainly drive home the “gritty” aspect of the series, and indeed Thwaites looks great in the role of Robin. He broke out in films like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and The Giver, and appears primed to lead this brand new DC Comics series.

It’s not confirmed, but seems likely that Titans is separate from Berlanti’s CW-verse DC shows like Arrow and The Flash.

The DC Universe streaming service will launch this fall.

Expect a major update at SDCC in a few weeks.

Here’s the official logline for Titans:

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.
