Franklin Graham joins St Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson’s ‘boycott’ of Girl Scout Cookies, read why

Evangelist Franklin Graham said in a Facebook post that the Girl Scouts of the USA “isn’t what it used to be,” proclaiming that he won’t be buying the organization’s popular cookies this year.

Graham made these claims while specifically commenting about St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson’s recent letter to fellow faith leaders and community members that addressed the ideological concerns that he has with the Girl Scouts.

Carlson also urged Catholic members of the Girl Scouts in the St. Louis region to consider joining alternative organizations.

“St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson isn’t worried about being politically correct in letting people know about it either,” Graham wrote. “He told church members and scout leaders that the Girl Scouts is wrong in their support of transgender rights and homosexuality and is not aligned with the teachings of his church.”

“The archdiocese also revealed that a Girl Scout troop in Utah was formed specifically to reach out to transgendered youth and that the Girl Scouts celebrated the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage on its Instagram and Twitter accounts.”

Graham said that Carlson is “exactly right” that these values are not compatible with the Bible, and commended the Catholic leader for speaking out so openly about these issues.

“More church leaders need his boldness in speaking the truths that set those who follow God’s word apart from the rest of the world,” Graham wrote. “I don’t know about you, but I won’t be buying any Girl Scout cookies this year.”

In his letter, Carlson also said that he takes concerns over the Girl Scouts very seriously and is well-aware that there are many Catholics in good standing who are involved in the organization. In the end, though, he has serious reservations about the values being espoused and touted.

“Girl Scouts is exhibiting a troubling pattern of behavior and it is clear to me that as they move in the ways of the world it is becoming increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values,” Carlson continued. “We must stop and ask ourselves — is Girl Scouts concerned with the total well-being of our young women? Does it do a good job forming the spiritual, emotional, and personal well-being of Catholic girls?”

That in mind, the archbishop is encouraging local church members to consider other scouring groups.

“Therefore, I am asking each pastor that allows Girl Scout troops to meet on parish property to conduct a meeting with troop leadership to review these concerns and discuss implementing alternative options for the formation of our girls,” he wrote. “Our primary obligation is to help our girls grow as women of God. Several alternative organizations exist, many of which have a Catholic or Christian background.”

Carlson continued, “I ask that you carefully study each organization and strongly consider offering one of these programs in your parish instead of Girl Scouts.”

When Christ was on earth he stressed
    1.love of fellow men,
    2.kindness to others,
3.selling all your possession and giving the money to the poor.

    His modern day disciples stress
    1. Sex
    2. Sex
    3. Sex

All Christian “leaders” like Franklin seem to want to do is preach about who can have sex with whom. Modern Christianity’s reoccupation with sexual things: gays, lesbians, transgenders, pre marital sex etc. is probably the result of sexual repression.

It’s probably the reason why Christians “divorce” in greater numbers than non Christians….even though Christ specifically condemned divorce FOUR times in the Bible and in no uncertain terms.

(Note: Christ never said a word about gays, transgenders or even abortion. But he was very very very clear about Divorce)

Christians today are the modern equivalent of the Pharisees and Sadducee’s of Christ’s time

It’s sad that you’ve missed the sermons on everything else. Sure, the headlines are obsessed with reporting on gay marriage and the normalizing transgenders. Reporting on a pastor speaking against addiction, divorce or some other sin doesn’t seem worthy of the front page.

Debating what Jesus taught is a whole different topic, a topic which you have totally misrepresented and oversimplified.

Have you noticed that the criticism of the Girl Scouts has come from “religious” men and not from religious women?

    Ministers make interesting “bedfellows!”
