Starring alongside Deborah Cox (Billboard R&B Pop star) in Frank Wildhorn’s adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella, Maroulis shines from start to finish.
It doesn’t take long for fans to embrace Jekyll’s ambitious journey to eradicate “anger, violence and strife” and bring down the “facade” – to quote from two of the songs. Maroulis is the star of the show and delivers throughout the presentation, especially during “This is the Moment,” which is the prelude to his initial transformation and Hyde’s shocking awakening in “Alive.”
“Jekyll & Hyde” plays in Tampa from October 23 thru October 28 at the Straz Center, get tickets here.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Its story, however, remains as timeless as it is irresistible. A devoted man of science, Dr. Henry Jekyll is driven to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind’s most challenging medical dilemmas. Rebuffed by the powers that be, he decides to make himself the subject of his own experimental treatments, accidentally unleashing his inner demons along with the man the world would come to know as Mr. Hyde.
This brand new direction and choreography are the work of Tony Award® nominee Jeff Calhoun, who’s behind this season’s breakthrough Broadway hit, Newsies.
Two red-hot star stars. One cold-blooded thriller. JEKYLL & HYDE.
