Florida man, Uriel Hernandez, arrested after his 2-year-old was left in hot car dies

Florida police say they have arrested and charged a man after he left his toddler in a hot car and the girl died.

Uriel-HernandezUriel Hernandez, 23, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter after officers say he left his 2-year-old child in a car during the heat of a Florida day, Sarasota police explained.

Police added how Hernandez picked up the girl Sunday morning, 6 am and went home. He went inside his home, got a phone charger, but went to sleep, leaving the baby in the hot car. It was midday, around noon and Hernandez realized the chld was still in the car.

He checked and found her unresponsive. The child was rushed to a hospital, where she checked in with a body temperature of 106 degrees,.

“The temperature in the city of Sarasota was between 85 and 95 at the time of the incident,” Sarasota polices spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said.

The child’s mother, Valeria Mendoza, spoke with police, explained the details surrounding Hernandez and picking up the girl. She said the couple had broken up, but they are amicable.

Police did not release the girl’s name.
