Florida man Ronaldo Rodriquez shoots Bradley Mills during confrontation over whistling at his Mills’ wifeh
A husband is recovering in a Florida hospital after being shot twice by a pair of men shouting and whistling at his wife, Haines City Police detailed. Bradley Mills and his wife were harassed by Ronaldo Fernandez Rodriquez and another man and when Mills confronted them to defend her honor, Rodriguez fired two shots at the man.
Rodriguez, 44, was quickly located and arrested by police after the incident Saturday, around midnight. Mills asked the pair to stop shouting, whistling and yelling at his wife. When he turned around and started walking back, one yelled “Hey, come here. Hey you, come back.” as one man pull the gun and start shooting.
Mills kept walking towards his home when he heard a whizzing noise of the round going right by him.
He didn’t realize he was hit until he got home. Mills’ wife called 911 as he had been shot in the stomach and the groin. His injuries are listed as non-life threatening as he recovers in Heart of Florida Hospital.
Mills described the shooter as “a Hispanic male, with long white hair, heavy set with no shirt on.” Haines City Police said.
Rodriquez was taken to the Polk County jail and charged with Attempted Murder in the second degree.
Generally speaking, Polk County doesn’t rank among the more dangerous locations in Florida or areas with a high rate. In fact, overall violent crime in Florida has dropped steadily since 2008 as the population continues to grow, nearing 20 million in 2015.
There has been a serious improvement over the last five years – full data here.
