First trailer ‘300 Rise of an Empire’ features Eva Green, Lena Headey and Sullivan Stapleton

Warner Bros released the first trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder returns only as producer for the comic book sequel, having previously directed 300 in 2006.

Director Noam Murro takes over for Snyder with Rodrigo Santoro having an expanded role as Xerxes, the evil dictator of Persia.

Ancient Greeks and Persians face-off again in Empire in a battle which took place at the same time as the events of 300. The film will also cover some of the backstory of Persian king Xerxes (Santoro).

The film had been slated for the end of this summer, but will arrive in the Spring. Similar to 300, Empire is based on the graphic novels by Frank Miller.

Game of Thrones actress Headey and David Wenham will return for 300: Rise of an Empire.

Stapleton, Green, Hans Matheson, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O’Connell and Andrew Tiernan also star.

300: Rise of an Empire will be released on March 7, 2014.
