Fil-Am Adriana Latonio makes it into the Top 20 of American Idol Season 12

In a powerful and moving rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way”, Alaska native, Adriana Latonio gained nothing but praise from the four judges Wednesday and found herself in the Top 20 of the popular reality singing show (see the performance here).

With the poise and confidence of a more mature woman, the 17-year-old belted out the Franklin classic with poise, confidence and a very good voice.

“Now the night has started. It’s a big song,” Keith Urban said admitting that he tried his best not to applaud and cheer. “It was really hard not to react because it was so damn good.”

The 5 ft tall Filipina-American, affectionately dubbed “lady bug” by judge Nicki Minaj, received a powerful endorsement from the great s vocalist Mariah Carey who said, “How do you feel? That’s a big song. I was really proud of you and really happy for you. That’s Aretha Franklin. I really loved how you came through with your version of the song.”

Adriana will try to follow in the successful footsteps of Fil-Ams before her like Jasmine Trias, Thia Megia and the amazing Jessica Sanchez and continue to move forward in the singing contest.
