Fiji records 3,500 additional dengue cases in past week
There were more than 3,500 dengue fever cases diagnosed on Fiji during the past week, bringing the total for the outbreak to 18,969 cases, according to a Fiji Broadcasting Corporation report Friday.

The way the cases are mounting, National advisor communicable diseases, Dr Mike Kama says the Health Ministry estimates the outbreak could peak at twenty five thousand, something last seen in 1975.
The vast majority of cases are reported from the capital of Suva. The strain of dengue in this outbreak is DEN3.
