‘Fast & Furious 6’ star Luke Evans arrives in ‘Dracula’ origins film, set for 2014

Fast & Furious 6 star Luke Evans will star in Universal’s Dracula, which now has a release date, late summer next year.

Gary Shore, first time director, cast Evans into the role earlier this month and the project appears to be moving quickly, reports Deadline on Saturday.

Called Dracula Year Zero at one point, the film centers on Prince Vlad, the man who would become the mythological bloodsucker and iconic villain.

Now set for August 8, 2014, one week after the Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, Universal will going into production with a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Evans will next star in Fast & Furious 6 which opens May 24 and return for another Hobbit film later this year as well. He turned heads with his role as Zeus in 2011’s Immortals, which starred Man of Steel star Henry Cavill.

Dracula  is part of Universal’s attempt to reboot their Classic Monsters franchise. Tom Cruise is attached to produce and star in a Van Helsing project as well.
