Exotic destinations for the perfect honeymoon

You and your soul mate have finally decided to tie the knot and have experienced a romantic and beautiful wedding. Now is the time to spend the perfect honeymoon before starting your lives together. Below are suggestions for some of the most exotic and beautiful honeymoon destinations in the world.

  1. St. Lucia and a Caribbean honeymoon

St. Lucia is a mostly unspoiled Caribbean destination, with beautiful mountains, lush rain forests and gorgeous sandy beaches overlooking crystal clear water. Depending on whether you want to have an adventure honeymoon, or simply relax, there are plenty of options. There are many lovely resorts to choose from on the island, or you could choose a luxurious beach villa all to yourselves. St. Lucia also has a number of excellent bed & breakfasts, for a more personal honeymoon stay.

For the more adventurous, the island offers many reef-diving sites where you can view the colorful marine life of the island. The west coast of this eastern Caribbean nation features the Pitons, a pair of striking mountains just waiting for you to climb them. Meanwhile, hiking trails through the rain forest of the interior can unexpectedly take you to Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, where the water flows over the cliff into a beautiful garden. Instead of walking, why not experience a full zip lining adventure together through the rain forest instead?

For those who just want to relax on the sand, the volcanic beaches are simply beautiful – lined with palm trees and touched by gentle waves. Honeymooners can choose to head to the popular and busy beaches close to the resorts, or go further afield and find the perfect secluded sandy spot to enjoy together.

If you plan your dates carefully, you can also experience some of the exciting festivals and events in St. Lucia, including anything from the regular fish fries to jazz and other music festivals.

  1. Honeymoon in an overwater hotel

If looking for peace and seclusion, overwater hotels or bungalows are becoming one of the best and most romantic accommodation options for the perfect honeymoon. Overwater bungalow resorts are found in several exotic locations, with gorgeous surroundings and offering perfect, warm and tropical weather.

Some of the best locations to choose from are Tahiti or Bora Bora in the South Pacific, or the stunningly beautiful Maldives in Asia. Overwater bungalows can be simply a luxurious hotel room, with no immediate neighbors, perched above the water, or a full-blown water villa with all the modern conveniences, and as pictured top of article, they could even offer a private infinity pool!

  1. Honeymoon with the celebrities on Lake Como, Italy

Lake Como in Italy is a stunning scenic location in its own right, with beautiful hillside towns, glorious mountainous landscapes and pretty water views. Here you can keep up with George and Amal Clooney or Virgin boss, Richard Branson, who have owned villas here for many years. You will soon see why, as Lake Como is a wonderful destination offering some of the best “grande dame” hotels or lovely villas overlooking the view.

While summer here can tend to be crowded with many tourists, if you plan your wedding for spring or autumn, you can have a perfect time at Lake Como, with warm sunny days, and cool nights, perfect for cuddling up at the end of the day. Spend the time exploring or relaxing and watching the boats going by and at the end of the day enjoy dinner together by candlelight at one of the many excellent restaurants or quaint cafes in town.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and wishing you all the best for the most perfect, romantic honeymoon.
