Watching Videos on Multiple Platforms

The number of computing devices available to consumers has increased significantly in the last couple of years. This has led to an environment where consumers use multiple devices to access the internet. Similarly, consumers consume video content on multiple devices. According to a report prepared by Think with Google, 85% of adults aged between 18 and 49 years use multiple devices simultaneously. This trend is likely to grow in 2017. Therefore, businesses need to make their video content available on multiple platforms in order to reach a bigger number of potential customers.

Facebook Video

Facebook is arguably the largest social networking site on the planet which makes it a major player in the online marketing and advertising industry. The social networking giant has invested heavily in video and in the last couple of years, daily video views have increased from 1 billion to 8 billion. The launch of Facebook Live has rubberstamped the company’s status as a global online influencer. In 2017 there is bound to be an increase in the number of people sharing, viewing and posting Facebook Videos. Thus, businesses will be wise to take advantage of this. Also, Facebook Live is likely to increase in popularity in 2017.

360-Degree Videos

The 360-degree video format is relatively new. However, it has been well received. A study conducted by Magnifyre revealed that 28.8% more people watched the 360 degree version of a video over the non 360 degree version. This video format is fast becoming the preference for a wide variety of applications, such as live action videos and promotional videos as well. 360-degree videos give customers a more realistic experience compared to conventional videos and are perfect to showcase things such as real estate for instance.

The use of 360-degree videos is definitely set to increase in 2017 with more and more education oriented video production services offering the format. This can be largely attributed to the increased use of YouTube’s 360-degree video feature and we can expect the majority of video platforms to fully embrace the format in 2017.

Use of Multiple Channels

Some years back, YouTube was the main platform for sharing, posting and viewing of videos. This is no longer the case as social networking sites are increasingly venturing into the video sharing market. Social site such as Vimeo, Instagram and Snapchat have created new and innovative ways of sharing video content.

Thus, marketers are finding it necessary to post videos on multiple platforms to reach a bigger online crowd. This trend will continue in 2017 and businesses will find it increasingly important to integrate all available platforms into their online marketing strategies. There is also the likelihood of new video sharing platforms being released in the next year.

Storytelling Videos

Probably the most effective use of video content for marketing, video storytelling has undergone several transformations. In 2017, the use of video storytelling techniques is likely to increase. The use of videos to tell stories has proved to be a highly efficient tactic that businesses can and should employ. Storytelling is exciting for customers and helps build lasting relationships between a business and its clients. In addition, video storytelling is a great way to motivate online audiences. Video testimonials are also being used to build trust with customers. This trend of using videos for storytelling purposes will increase in 2017.

Conclusion

Video marketing seems to be the all the rage at the moment. As such, businesses have to incorporate new and innovative video marketing strategies. Businesses with the most creative and unique video marketing strategies will definitely have an edge over their competitors.

In this regard, small businesses are finding it easier to compete with large brands in respect to video marketing. Also, video marketing has become a priority for businesses that want to stay relevant and competitive.
