EW picks ‘Hannibal’ as Best Drama, Mads Mikkelsen, Gillian Anderson team up in season 3

NBC’s Hannibal earned thetitle of Best Drama Series in the 2014 EWwys Monday—EW.com’s 7th annual awards for the Emmy-snubbed—with roughly 40 percent of the vote. As fans compiled sneaks at season 3, creator Bryan Fuller thanks the fans.

Fuller revealed to fans that season 3 will follow star Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson as “a murder couple.” The action will jump ahead roughly eight months, with Fuller earmarking the season’s fourth episode to reveal everything that happened during that time span.

Sons of Anarchy was a distant second behind Hannibal’s 39.66% with 18.45%. The Good Wife, Bates Motel, The Americans and Masters of Sex rounded out the list of dramas.

Fuller really hopes to dive into the rst of the Thomas Harris mythos. He plan to incorporate plots from “Hannibal,” “Hannibal Rising” and “Red Dragon” as he notes that MGM still holds the rights to the Clarice Starling character, so fans n shouldn’t expect her inclusion.

Hugh Dancy and Laurence Fishburne headline the returning cast. Check out the top Hannibal stories on The Dispatch HERE

 Full Synopsis:

The dark and haunting series “Hannibal” returns for a second season with more shocking revelations and psychological cat and mouse games. Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) is locked in a mental asylum accused of Hannibal Lecter’s crimes (Mads Mikkelsen). Now that Will sees Hannibal for what he truly is, he faces a fight to prove his own sanity and convince those closest to him he is innocent of murder. Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) is dealing with his own feelings about Will and whether his protégé is in fact a cold-blooded killer. Looking for answers, Jack turns to Hannibal, a man he has come to trust. With Will locked up, Hannibal becomes Jack’s new consultant on cases. Hannibal is torn between self-preservation and his desire to keep Will close to him, despite advice from his psychiatrist, Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson), to stay away.

The deadly dance between these characters continues to turn in startling and unexpected ways, in a season that will show that nothing can ever be the same again.
