Elizabeth Olsen talks ‘Godzilla’ role

Elizabeth Olsen recently joined the cast for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla reboot, and the actress dropped a brief hint as to what we can expect from the film while on the red carpet at the Bafta ceremony.

Godzilla teaser poster“It’s definitely not light-hearted,” Olsen said of Edwards’ approach to the classic monster. “It’s kind of going back to its roots of the original Japanese film.”

Godzilla was always a metaphor for the threat of nuclear war and then deviated with Mothra and a cast of crazy creatures for the lizard to battle.

The script has been rewritten by Frank Darabont (Walking Dead, Shawshank Redemption) and co-stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston.

Godzilla will open in theaters on May 16, 2014.
