Egypt Responded to Massacre of Christians, Attack claimed by ISIS
(International Christian Concern) –This weekend, Egyptian Security Forces announced the deaths of 19 terrorists whom they alleged were complicit in the implementation of the massacre of Christians on November 2nd. Seven Christians were killed during this attack; most belonged to the same family.
ISIS claimed the attack, which took place in the same location as a separate massacre in May 2017 that left 28 Christians dead. Christians have repeatedly pointed out that the government has been delinquent in protecting their rights and security, thus creating an atmosphere which allows incidents of violent persecution to repeatedly occur.
The government’s swift response in announcing the deaths of the terrorists involved in the most recent massacre has also drawn condemnation. With the suspects now dead, it is impossible to confirm whether they were indeed involved in Friday’s attack. Fear continues to permeate the Christian community in Egypt.
