Dr Steven Schwartz death still unsolved, described as ‘mystery’

The Tampa paper’s headline read “Physician’s death in waterfront home a mystery” and readers will be certain to search the details for themselves.

Rebecca Schwartz found her husband, Dr. Steven Schwartz, dead in the couple’s million dollar mansion in Tarpon Springs. Arriving home, Rebecca identified that the home had been robbed again (sheriff’s office confirmed a missing boat call previously) but the doctor had been killed.

Schwartz died from “upper body trauma” and police have said that this does not appear to be a random event. Detectives are still quiet on details, not confirming a burglary or evidence of a struggle. They say the wife, 53, is not a suspect.

Rebeccas Schwartz is “not listed as a suspect right now,” Tarpon Springs Police Sgt. Ed Miller told the press.

Authorities have confirmed that the grounds have been thouroughly searched with dogs, the property is 4,700 square feet with a boat dock, but failed to reveal any findings.

Schwartz was a doctor in good standing within the community. Sources tell The Global Dispatch that the couple never fought, there is no signs of domestic violence or financial problems.

While it may still be too earlier in the investigation, at this point, “mystery” may be an accurate assessment.

The thought that he would make more money from the wife. Very questionable. He had no motive. He was set up. Let him go and do the work to convict her.

  2. Rita says:

I just saw this on 48 hours. I get a vibe that Leo is innocent. I would put my money on the wife doing it

  3. Lashby,Tom says:

We who know this story firmly believe the Wife was at least complicit but likely even more directly involved. She had a history of issues with the money from his practice. Not a very nice person, that is for sure. Police need to drop the hammer on her. I think she set up the maintenance guy
