Doug Liman: ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ sequel called ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’ with Emily Blunt, Tom Cruise confirmed

While promoting his latest film, The Wall, director Doug Liman confirmed a sequel for the somewhat gimmicky sci-fi film Edge of Tomorrow with both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt returning.

“I’m actively working on Edge of Tomorrow 2 right now, which is going to go by the title Live Die Repeat and Repeat,” Liman revealed. “Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are both signed on.”

We Got This Covered praised the first film: “Doug Liman’s brainy thriller turned out to be one of the very best films of the year, delivering a gripping and clever ride that’s now sitting pretty at an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.”

Here’s the synopsis for Edge of Tomorrow: Cruise and Emily Blunt fall into “a full-scale alien war, with the remnants of humanity desperately scrapping for survival. That all-hands-on-deck tactic resulted in waves upon waves of foot soldiers being deployed against the mimics, a seemingly invincible alien race mobilized by a hive mind hellbent on world domination. But here’s the twist: Cruise was able to exploit a scientific anomaly wherein he could loop back to a certain point in the past just as he died, paving the way for an interesting and competent thriller.”

The title of the film may not be the theatrical title, borrowing from the first film’s tagline: Live Die Repeat.

The Wall stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena as U.S. soldiers trapped by an enemy sniper during the troop draw down of forces in Iraq. Full review can be found HERE

Cruise arrives in theaters with his latest film, The Mummy, the first of the new reboots based on Universal Studios’ classic monsters. Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) stars as the titular creature with Russell Crowe cast as Dr. Jeckyl.

The Mummy opens in theaters on June 9, 2017.

While Blunt has several films in development (Animal Crackers, Gnomeo & Juliett: Sherlock Gnomes) it is the lead role in Disney’s new Mary Poppins film, Mary Poppins Returns, which has fans buzzing.

Joined by an all-star cast, Blunt arrives as Poppins next Christmas.
