Disney’s streaming services: Disney ‘plus’ will have Tom Hiddleston in ‘Loki’ series, ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Rogue One’ prequel

Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service has an official name: Disney+. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed the official name, logo and new platform details today on the company earning call. Iger says the service is on track for a late 2019 release and dropped some big news.

Iger revealed that the content will live on five hubs within the service: Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic. Per Vulture, each hub will serve as a micro-platform on the service, with customized designs and features for each of the brands. “We’re going to superserve fans” Iger said.

Iger confirmed the rumored Loki series, which will see Tom Hiddleston star as the fan-favorite character originated in the MCU. He also announced the platform’s second live-action series after Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian — a Rogue One prequel series focused on Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will oversee the Disney+ Marvel shows, while the Netflix and ABC Marvel shows were overseen by Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb.

The launch may be a year away, but Disney has a ton of projects in development besides the Star Wars and Marvel series

There is a re-imagining of the films High Fidelity (starring Zoe Kravitz, daughter the film adaptation’s Lisa Bonet) and The Mighty Ducks, as well as an animated series set in the world of Monsters, Inc.

Film projects include the Christmas comedy Noelle (starring Anna Kendrick), a live-action adaptation of Lady and the Tramp,  Don Quixote written by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips), The Paper MagicianStargirl, and Togo.
