Director Zack Snyder compares ‘Justice League’ film to ‘Knights of the round table’

Ahead of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zack Snyder talked about the Justice League superhero team, a two-film blockbuster with lofty expectations, playing down any notions of another standalone Superman movie anytime soon.

“I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2,” Snyder told Canoe. “Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”

Batman v Superman Dawn of JusticeDirector Steven Spielberg recently stated that the superhero genre of films is just a fad, but the Snyder defends the projects.

“The pressure’s on us, the filmmakers, to make the movies better,” the director said. “It’s about human stories; it’s not just about big explosions and stuff. What are these people feeling?”

Fans can expect a dark film, inspired by the Frank Miller comic books. During the interview Snyder’s resume was reviewed and he went from a 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead to heading the DC Comics’ tentpole project.

“At that point I was really into (Frank Miller’s comic) The Dark Knight Returns,” said Snyder. “I don’t know that I thought about it in those terms, but if you told me that I might make a Justice League movie, I wouldn’t think that that was weird. But I don’t think I would realize what it meant to pop culture the way it has struck pop culture right now.”
