‘Despicable Me 2’ confirmed for IMAX 3-D release
Universal and Illumination Entertainment‘s Despicable Me 2 begins its international release on June 20th in 2D and 3D theaters and in select IMAX theaters.
Director Chris Meledandri’s sequel features a return of the Minions, plus a “manic rabid chicken” and new villain El Macho voiced by Al Pacino, reports Deadline.
Steve Carell returns as super-villain Gru who is still fathering the three orphans.
2010′s Despicable Me grossed more than $543 million worldwide.
The Minions are also set to star in their own feature film in 2014 with Sandra Bullock voicing the villain. The spinoff is due in theaters next December.
Carell, Pacino, Steve Coogan, Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand and Miranda Cosgrove.
Cosgrove has been vocal about her excitement while filming the new promos: “Doing promos for Despicable Me 2 all day today! Can’t wait for you to see it! Getting excited for Despicable Me 2! Filmed some fun stuff today with Steve Carell!”
Despicable Me 2 will be released domestically on July 3rd.
